Ok Hemingway’s “Hills like white elephants”, was extremely confusing. I know there are 2 main characters, an American man, and a younger girl, ho are dating or in some kind of relationship together. They are in Barcelona i believe headed toward Madrid, Spain. They are waiting for their train at the station and decided to have a beer. Then after the beer they want to try a different drink. The girl is sitting at the station looking at the hills on the other side of the tracks. From reading the story, she was apparently pregnant and he wanted her to have an abortion. She was too keen on this idea and felt uneasy about it. Also from what i got out of the story, she thought that the clouds resting on top of the hills looked like white elephants and she wanted to go across the tracks and see them, because she had never seen a white elephant before. When I think of white elephants I think about the gift exchange at like a Christmas party where people buy gag gifts and et stuck with worthless gifts they will ever use. I don’t really know why they kept asking each other if they wanted to, or telling each other one cares and the other one doesn't and all that stuff. I think i got the gist of the story though but it was verrrrry confusing.

After reading, “Responding-really responding- to other students writing”, I really see the reason for revising and proofreading a paper. I always thought I was supposed to check grammar like spelling and punctuation, but now I know that it’s much more than that. I now have learned that the best way to revise a paper is to give the writer suggestions and ideas on how to improve their paper. In the workshops I hope to put my new findings to good use and really help out the students with my suggestions and help make their paper even better!

I don’t necessarily consider myself a writer because my writing needs a lot of work. On the other hand I like to write. I don’t really write for leisure, i mean yeah when i was younger I used to write in a diary, but I don’t do that anymore. When I find a topic I like to write about in class, then I feel like I am a writer, because things just flow out and I could write for hours! But if I find something I am not interested it will take me forever to write on it. In this class I plan to gain more skills and a better understanding on how to write papers like research papers and how to do in text citation and quote things to avoid plagiarism.
